This website is dedicated to the emerging Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) proposal being brought forward by Roxhill Developments.
Known as ‘Northampton Gateway’, the project would see development of a new strategic distribution site adjacent to Junction 15 of the M1 in Northamptonshire with new warehousing and a new rail freight terminal.
Integral to the proposals are significant improvements to Junction 15 of the M1, and a new bypass to the village of Roade, as well as significant new landscaping and tree planting to substantially screen the site from surrounding communities.
The project is at a relatively early stage, but meets the criteria of a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). This means that the proposals will be submitted for determination by the Secretary of State. More information about the NSIP process is provided on this website. Once the application is prepared the documents and plans will be made available via the Application Documents page.
The Planning Inspectorate also has webpages dedicated to the Northampton Gateway project – this can be found here.
The pages of this website contain information about the proposals, and as the project progresses will be updated. Details will be added about the supporting technical work, public consultation and engagement activity, and in due course, about determination of the application. It is intended to be a useful resource for anyone with an interest in the proposals, including members of local communities close to the proposals. The News links and the News page are provided to help visitors to the website understand the latest changes updates.
Public consultation will begin on 9th October, and last until Friday 24th November. Public exhibition events are being held as follows:
